Best West Village Bars, NYC - downtown night out

West Village is by far my favorite New York neighborhood to got out. Whether it will be to party till the sun rise at the Jane Hotel - best party in town (if like me, you are looking to scream out the lyrics to popular tunes and dance on sofas with a disco ball on above you ) ... or go out to cozy bars. (West Village hippster-chick bars are very different from East Village's rowdy college vibe).

Step One: The Happiest Hour

Throw on your Hawaiian shirt and join an awesome tiki hut party! -> Ok, kidding about the first part. The New York very black, too-cool-for-school party uniform is still very much the required dress code. But... 100% true about the island vibe! Get there early as it will fill up, and treat yourself to their exotic cocktails, early enough in the night that you can appreciate the tasted of well mixed alcohol.

Step Two: The Highlands

Off we go!
The Highlands is super cozy, there are lights everywhere and next to the bar there is an adorable - small, perfect for dates, area where you could order something to eat or just sit down for a glass of wine. The crown is attractive, their whisky menu is too long for words and it serves as a perfect spot to catch up with your party over a drink, before taking it a step further at ...

Step Three: ... Wilfie and Nell

Get ready to mingle! Wilfie and Nell its easy going and a little bit more loud. It seems more relaxed than the other two places. Plus it's a tiny space but you will run into everyone here - everyone - from your long lost friend to a cute banker guy you've been eyeing on the subway, to your college bff who is visiting new york and somehow found out where "the locals go." The atmosphere is fun and the place has earned its "the vortex" name for a reason.

Step Four: Galway Hooker

This place is a bit loud, a bit crowed, and maybe a bit fratty - so ideally you would have had three drinks already by the time you get there. But it has some charm to it - and a very good DJ - Its a cool place to either end a bar night or … to move on to a dance-y place like The Jane.

(Step Five: The Jane Hotel)

It’s a club not a bar and thus the parenthesis ; ) but it being one of my favorite places in West Village it had to make the list.

The Jane Hotel is just so much fun - the music is always great and model-like crowd of young New Yorkers never disappoints. See you there!

Have an awesome weekend, guys!

Xoxo

Lillian
