We are all superwomen.
I remember first time reading the book Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg when it came out few years ago and thinking: that there is so much more work to be done for women to be treated as equals in the workplace. Food for thought: McKinsey: Addressing unconscious bias.
And yet, we make it. We ran billion dollar companies, achieve nobel prices, win gold olympic medals, all while being caring and loving daughters, mothers, partners, and friends. We really can do it. I mean, we already do do it.
This is why, I can tell you from first hand experience that it will be hard: I was once told that my argument doesn't hold because "I am too emotional" or that I should "speak up more at meetings" - even tough I did speak up - in fact I did speak up to the point that my male co-workers heard it and repeated exactly what I was saying - which in their mouth was automatically transformed from an "emotional comment" to a "very creative idea!"
But the worse thing we could do is give up - and ourselves put additional barriers and blocks in front of our goals. So ladies - please encourage and empower one another!
With hugs, love, and girl power,
