Sleepless in Seattle
Pro Traveler Tip: Take advantage of your layovers!!
While traveling for pleasure and not for work, when I often need to be in an office in a different city by 9 - hello, to 5:30am flights - I always try to book my flights so that I have a few hour layovers in a city, I have not yet visited. Its a great way to visit new places for completely free: you don't pay for a hotel and you don't pay for extra flights.
When I was flying from Boston to Hawaii, I had an 8 hour stop in Seattle. A city that was never really on my travel-junkie radar until I read 50 Shades of Gray (yes, I know - no judgement please, though excuse me while I go and hide).
However, if there is any benefit from reading that book, it is that it brought be to Seattle. :) I must admit that did not have great expectations, but I absolutely loved it! In fact, Seattle jumped up on the list of my favorite cities above San Francisco or Philadelphia.
If I had only few words to describe Seattle, I would say: clean, vibrant, fresh, safe and European-like (which might be the reason why I love it so much ;) ).
- Eat fresh seafood at Pike's Market
- Have a picnic at Chihuly Garden and walk around the Glass sculptures
- Drink Starbucks, since Seattle the famous coffee's birthplace
