Luau in Maui
After slightly too touristic for me Honolulu, upon arriving in Maui, I was determined to find the 'real Hawaii' about which I have been dreaming for years.
I found it at a Luau.
Luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast, in the form of a dinner theater. When going to a Luau, you can count on an filled with joy and laughter evening, accompanied by performances of traditional Polynesian dances, a hula lesson, amazingly tasty hawaiian cuisine and a never ending supply of Mai Tais.
I highly recommend going to a Luau - and pencil it in as early in your trip agenda as possible, as the joyful evening full of celebration will carry the true Hawaiian spirit all throughout your trip.
To be honest though, I have to mention the one cons about Luau-s: they are a bit pricy - around $100 - $150 per person. That being said, you are often getting an all you can eat buffet and all you can drink bar plus a few hour show.
And a must is doing a reservation before arriving in Hawaii - Luaus tend to sell out weeks in advance!
