Came for lunch... stayed for pie
My Tourne of Tribeca restaurants continues. Today on the lunch agenda was Bubby's.
Really great things: their pies are heaven on earth (and they have a baking book - great Christmas gift idea for your banking friends or... yourself -> I am a big fan of gifts "from myself to myself" - all about that self love guys ;) [making a parenthesis in a parenthesis - yes it's happening - I re-read the last sentence and for some reason it seems to me like I sound super gangster like with the selflove stuff - just wanted to pint that out ;D]).
What is also amazing is ther healthy, green, kale juice! I highly recommend.
What was less amazing however was their food...
I have ordered a matzo ball soup and a frisée salad with extra steak.
After a long wait, both the soup and the salad arrived at the same time, and already lukewarm. As a result by the time I finished my soup, the meat and egg from my salad were completely cold.
However what tipped the experience was the quality of the stake. For $11, I got 6 very thin pieces of... the fatties stake I have ever received in a restaurant. To have you the picture: I literally had to cut the fat from the pieces (eating cold, animal fat is not my kind of a meal)... an by the time I did that, there was barely any meat left.
I have also asked for the steak to be done medium but it arrived very well done. (But that's the smallest issue of the lunch).
To sum up: would recommend for dessert, but as for the actual meal, it was below average. That being said: it is of course my one experience in the restaurant, so let me know if you think I just had bad luck and you actually like the place, but as for me, I will not be likely to return.
