Apple Picking & Wine Tasting in Hudson Valley

Apple Picking & Wine Tasting in Hudson Valley

This year, I went apple picking ... for the first time in my life. - I know, I am super late to the game! And if I knew what I am missing, I would make it a fall-resolution to go every year. Apple picking is: SO Much Fun. Why? I can name at least couple of reasons: First, it's great to get away from the city. Living in New York, I often find myself feeling that in order to remain a happy human 'I need space' -> quite literally. To keep the creative juices flowing, every couple of weeks, I need to change the scenery and stop feeling like an ant making my way between tall towers of steel. Thus... going upstate and standing on top of a hill and looking into the distance and forests and lakes being the only think I can see always feels amazing - super 'freeing' . Second, apple picking is a super fun idea to both hang out with your friends, and stand a day outside. Oxygen is good Friends are even better. Thirdly: cider - enough said.

My apple picking adventure was combined with a with a wine tasting trip along the Hudson Valley Wine Trail. I would highly recommend doing a wine tasting trip as a day escape with your girlfriends! The non-processed, home made wine is amazing (I even tasted one which was pumpkin-spiced - you wouldn't fine one like that in any liquor store in the city! ), and it truly is "tasting" with very small quantities -> so chance of getting "drunk" is very slim (okay, it does depend on how many wineries you plan to visit ) but you will be just enough tipsy to laugh all the way home.

Enjoy your fall, everyone!
Writing this with a glass of hot, cinnamon sprinkled apple cited in my hand,
Lillian
